This is IT! - Tea Cakes

Like my grandmother use to make...they were always in a green depression glass cookie jar.  It is not her recipe, but a close match.

Tea Cakes
4 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder ????
1 cup shortening
pinch salt
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup sweet milk
2 teaspoons vanilla

Sift dry ingredients together.  Cream shortening and sugar.  Beat the eggs just enough to break the yolks.  Add to the shortening and sugar.  Add flour and milk, alternately, then vanilla.  (I mix vanilla in with milk) Knead slightly on floured board, roll and cut with cookie cutter.  Bake on a greased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.  (roll thin for crisp....thicker for softer)  May need to cook for less minutes unless you want a crisp cookie.
As if they don't have enough sugar, frost with a thin powered sugar glaze.  Sweet, sweet, sweet...and good.

Makes a good Christmas cookie with sprinkles.
