As soon as we moved to Texas, that first spring I started to notice a tree that had beautiful rich dark pink blooms. After some investigating, we finally found that it was a Red Baron peach. Of course, I needed one. This is the 2nd year that it has been planted. I am just happy that it is still alive. We don't have the best ground conditions and this year has been a struggle. The temperature will be hot one day and near freezing the next. But on one sunny day, I was able to snap these pictures of some of the blooms. It is not covered with blooms, but as it gets older, I think it will have more. And then I will be able to look out my kitchen window and see a beautiful tree. For now, I need to use the binoculars.
If you want to put one in your orchard, try to find one that has a bloom open--that way you will know what color it will be.
