Hummingbirds Have Arrived

Hubby saw a hummingbird yesterday, so the feed is now out!  I have yet to see one.  The Mountain Laural are now blooming too, so that will help the little guys eat.

38 degrees here in sunny Texas...oh not so sunny today.  It has been raining for the last 4 days...the land and rivers need it.

HUMMINGBIRDS ARE BACK

We visited with a neighbor yesterday and he said he had seen a hummingbird..so as soon as we got home I fixed one feeder and put it out.  By that afternoon, we had one visitor.

Another Cloudy Day

What is this with Texas weather?  It has been cloudy and misty for a week...I am sure it has been 4 or 5 days.  There is just enough mist  to make the ground sticky and the grass wet.  I do have some rain boots, but they are not easy to wear...just a little short and uncomfortable.  I use them for the really big rains...when mud is about 2 inches deep.

The dear deer are feeling the cooler weather..they want  to be fed since there is not much out in canyon for them to eat.  Well, not what they want to eat. 

But, what a great time and place to live.  How blessed we are.

Hummingbird Visitor

I am not a professional, so the pictures are not great, but I like to take them.  The hummingbird is amazing!  With a few flowers, you can get up close and stand still and watch when they hover and sip from a flower. 

I need to check my camera and see if the sports setting would be fast enough for these little athletes.

It is Hummingbird season! The are such fun to watch.  It has been a few months since I have done any birds, but I am getting in the mood for birds again.  Looking back on them, they are almost all the same, but different colors.  I guess I need to venture out some...

How do you do justice to a hummingbird?  They are one of the amazing creations of God...so unusual, so beautiful, and just so delicate, but they think they are as big as a bulldozer if something is in their territory.  Amazing bird.

Off the Highway lets me be out in the country and one of God's little creations is the Hummingbird.  They are fascinating and are so unique.  We have decided that the vultures are also unique, but I would rather paint a hummingbird.  How to paint one...with each movement of their little bodies, the sun catches their feathers and they seem to glow.  On the male, he has a black head until the sun catches his chin...then there is bright red or purple.  Just an amazing creature.

This is one of the first hummers I did...I worked on some new ones today, so we will see if there is an improvement.


Let us set our minds on things above.  That is so much better for the heart and soul.
