Pound Cake--not the low calorie kind

Pound Cake
1 cup Crisco
3 cups Sugar
6 eggs---separated
3 cups flour
1 cup buttermilk
1/4 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

6 stiffly beaten egg whites
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon lemon extract

This recipe is from a Grandmother, so the directions were not included--I guess they thought you should know how to do it.

So, here are my directions:
Mix flour, soda and salt in separate bowl.
Cream Crisco and sugar with mixer on low speed.  Add egg yolks. Mix well.  On low, add flour and buttermilk alternately add vanilla and lemon ....fold in beaten egg whites until you can't see anymore egg white.

Bake for one hour 10 minutes at 325* or until a toothpick comes out clean.

It is scheduled for Potluck on Sunday--unless it does not rise or doesn't taste good....how will I know?  Well, we will have to give it a try before Sunday.
