Little Bluebonnet

Here it is another week has gone by.  I am anxious for the spring flowers to pop out, but I think the last cool spell slowed everything down.  I think native flowers are probably smarter than the average gardener that can hardly wait to get in the garden.

The deer resistant plants that I put out are not doing so good.  With the tops all chewed off, maybe that will help the roots get a good start. I do have some plants that have not been nibbled off...yet.  Sunflowers...these are all different colors of yellow and red, so they should be pretty.  If these fail, then I will just resign myself to use whatever is growing around the place.  Then comes the challenge of trying to transplant them to a place where I can see them from my window.  I started digging on a yucca ....the root went on and on and on.  I gave up as I did not want to kill the plant.

The bluebonnets are coming out along the Texas roads.  I have one, behind wire, that is blooming.  I had to buy the plant instead of trying to grow some from seed.  Well, I just didn't want to wait for a seed to make a plant.  I may sow some seed this fall and see if some will come up.  Oh to look out the window and see a field of blue.  Dream on...
