Sweet and Sour Sauce from Your Kitchen

Why buy a bottle of sweet and sour sauce for the one time you may use it for a Chinese dish? I have combined several recipes to come up with a sauce that is a good copy for the store bought kind, and it is made from what you probably have in the pantry.

Sweet and Sour Sauce

1 cup cold water
2 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
6 Tablespoons brown sugar ( can use less for a sauce not so sweet)
4 Tablespoons ketchup
1/4 cup vinegar ( I used white)
1 teaspoon soy sauce
sprinkle of garlic salt - just a little sprinkle

Combine all ingredients in sauce pan and bring to a boil over medium to low heat...Stir constantly until it comes to a full boil. About 5 minutes.
Makes almost 2 cups.
