Don't Mop Before you Cook

What was I thinking?  I know that I can't keep the flour on the counter...and I knew that I was going to cook pies today.  But what did I do?  Just went ahead and vacuumed and mopped the kitchen floor first.
It all started when I had to open a new bag of flour and pour it into the flour container.  The container is suppose to hold 5 lbs.  It is a tight fit when there is nothing left in the container, but I still had some left. You know, just a little, but not enough to use in a recipe.  I started transferring....about 4 Tablespoons missed the opening...onto the counter it went.  O.K. that is the way it goes when you try to pour flour...a trickle or a clump falls out and misses.  But, onto the crust.  I made one crust for the chocolate pie...then decided that I wanted to make a buttermilk pie also.  So, I mixed that crust.  Oh, the first crust rolled out fine...nothing went over the edge and onto the floor.  The second crust, not so.  It wanted to fall apart, so I had little pieces floating around on the counter...along with the extra flour needed for rolling the crust.  Is it only me that has a flour shirt and floor after making pies?

The chocolate is still cooling, but we "sampled" the buttermilk...Mmmmmm it was good. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/buttermilk-pie/

The picture shows a skillet, but I just used a regular 9" deep pie plate.

So the messy kitchen was worth it.
