Verbena canescens

I had been waiting for this unknown plant to grow up and be a beautiful native verbena ....today it bloomed and it was not what I wanted in the flower bed, so up it came.  Then I looked it up to see what it was...to late.  It is a type of Verbena, but it's blooms are so small you have to look close to see the tiny purple bloom.
Verbena canescens
Another name for this little plant is Gray Vervain.
Next time, I will look it up before I pull it up.  But after saying that, I think this would have been pulled anyway.  In real life, it doesn't look as good as the picture.

One Verbena that I do like, and the dear deer don't eat, is the  Verbena (Verbena bipinnatifida).  It has a very pretty violet bloom that is large enough to enjoy.
